Acclaimed actor Parvathy Thiruvothu has opened up about her changing perspective on success and failure, saying she no longer fears setbacks and instead sees them as an important part of her journey as an artist. Speaking in a candid conversation with Variety India, the actor reflected on her early career, the challenges that came with fame, and why she believes personal growth matters more than meeting public expectations.
Parvathy said that the years she spent struggling to establish herself remain among the most meaningful phases of her life. According to her, those early days were defined by honesty, dedication and a genuine passion for acting rather than the pressure to prove herself.
Looking back, she recalled approaching every performance with complete sincerity. She said the absence of fame allowed her to focus entirely on learning and improving as an actor. Those experiences, she believes, helped build the foundation of her career and continue to influence her work even today.
However, the actor admitted that success also brought unexpected challenges. As her popularity grew, she found herself overwhelmed by the constant attention and public scrutiny that accompanied it. She remembered a time when her phone would not stop ringing, making it difficult to cope with the sudden spotlight.
Parvathy shared that there were moments when she simply placed her phone under a pillow before leaving home because she did not know how to deal with the endless calls and growing expectations. The experience made her realise that fame could easily become distracting if it was allowed to define her identity.
Over time, she consciously learned to separate public recognition from her personal and professional life. She explained that she had to remind herself that she was first an actor committed to her craft, while awards, praise and public attention were secondary.
According to Parvathy, this shift in mindset became a form of meditation. By focusing on the process of acting instead of external validation, she found a way to stay grounded despite the highs and lows of the entertainment industry.
Speaking about failure, the actor made one of her most striking observations. She said she no longer waits anxiously for success but is equally prepared to face failure because it frees her from the burden of living up to other people’s expectations.
Parvathy clarified that she does not wish to fail deliberately. Instead, she believes failure reminds her that the only expectations she truly needs to meet are her own. She emphasised that no one else has the right to decide how successful she should be or define her worth as an artist.
Her comments reflect a growing conversation within the film industry about mental well-being, self-acceptance and the pressures that come with public life. By prioritising authenticity over perfection, Parvathy believes actors can continue creating meaningful work without being weighed down by unrealistic expectations.
On the professional front, Parvathy Thiruvothu will next be seen in Storm, an upcoming Amazon Original series backed by Hrithik Roshan’s HRX Films. The project is among the most anticipated releases in her upcoming slate, and fans are eager to see the versatile actor return to the screen in a new role.
