The Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 has received 1,588 nominations, with 92% of districts across India participating. The awards recognise civil servants for outstanding contributions to governance and public service.
For 2024, officials will receive awards in three categories:
- Holistic Development of Districts – 5 awards
- Aspirational Blocks Programme – 5 awards
- Innovations in Governance – 6 awards

A three-stage evaluation process will determine the winners. First, Additional Secretaries will lead a screening committee. Next, an expert panel, chaired by the Secretary (DARPG), will assess shortlisted candidates. Finally, an Empowered Committee, led by the Cabinet Secretary, will make the final recommendations. The Prime Minister will approve the winners.
Each recipient will receive a trophy, a scroll, and Rs. 20 lakh to fund public welfare initiatives. The Prime Minister will present the awards on 21 April 2025, during Civil Services Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
