The fifty sixth International Film Festival of India is unfolding in Goa with its usual grandeur, attracting celebrated artists, filmmakers and technicians from across India and beyond. Among the many regional films showcased at the festival, Marathi cinema has made a striking impression this year. One film that has particularly stood out is ‘Drushya Adrushya’, a story rooted in mystery and emotional depth. Its recent screenings at IFFI received enthusiastic applause, making it one of the most talked about Marathi films at the event.

Produced by RST Canvas and directed by Milind Lele, this suspense driven drama has been in the spotlight ever since it was officially selected for the festival. The production team, which includes Pradyot Pendharkar, Anil Varkhade, Dattaji Thorat, Dhananjay Thorat, Prithviraj Khedkar, Yuvraj Khedkar and Ashwini Khedkar, has expressed immense pride in the film’s recognition. For the Marathi film fraternity, Milind Lele’s entry into IFFI has become a moment of celebration, highlighting the growing global reach of regional cinema from Maharashtra.

At the heart of the film is actress Pooja Sawant, who plays the central character with remarkable intensity. Known for her strong presence in both Marathi and Hindi cinema, Pooja’s performance in ‘Drushya Adrushya’ has earned widespread appreciation at IFFI. Viewers praised her emotional range and the depth she brought to the role. After one of the screenings, the audience honoured the entire team with a standing ovation, a gesture that reflected the film’s powerful impact. Featured under the prestigious Indian Panorama section, the film was screened four times, and every show received overwhelming applause.

‘Drushya Adrushya’ stands out for its gripping screenplay, atmospheric craft and thought provoking narrative. The story dives into the complex layers of the human psyche. It explores how perceptions shift, how illusions are created, and how the boundary between what is seen and what is hidden gradually dissolves. This interplay between reality and illusion forms the soul of the film. Milind Lele’s direction brings a sensitive yet suspenseful tone to the storytelling, keeping the audience engaged until the final moment.

Alongside Pooja Sawant, the film features strong performances by Ashok Samarth, Hardik Joshi and Akshaya Gurav, each adding depth to the narrative. With its emotional storytelling and artistic execution, ‘Drushya Adrushya’ has proved to be a proud representation of Marathi cinema on an international stage.
