Chennai witnessed a strong push towards women’s career advancement as Avtar Career Creators Limited (ACCL), in partnership with M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, hosted the myAvtar SheWorks! Career Fair 2026 on July 4. The one day event brought together women professionals, industry leaders, employers and career experts to discuss career growth, leadership and workplace opportunities while unveiling a new initiative aimed at making women more future ready.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of Proximity Career Labs, a campus based skilling programme designed to bridge the gap between education and employment. The initiative seeks to equip women with industry relevant skills, practical learning experiences and career development opportunities before they enter or re enter the workforce.
The programme was officially launched by renowned public speaker and independent director Bharathy Bhaskar. Speaking at the event, she encouraged women to embrace change with confidence and continue investing in lifelong learning. She emphasised that economic independence begins with the decision to pursue one’s aspirations and that continuous learning is essential in an era where artificial intelligence, automation and technology are rapidly transforming workplaces.
Welcoming participants, Dr Archna Prasad, Principal of M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, said educational institutions have a crucial role in preparing students beyond academics. She noted that career readiness starts on college campuses by helping young women develop confidence, practical skills and career awareness. According to her, initiatives like SheWorks! bring industry closer to students and strengthen women’s representation in the workforce.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Saundarya Rajesh, Managing Director of Avtar Career Creators Limited, highlighted the organisation’s long standing commitment to supporting women returning to work after career breaks. She said Proximity Career Labs takes this mission further by reconnecting women with college campuses, where they can gain future ready skills, industry exposure and practical learning before returning to professional life with greater confidence.
Dr Rajesh also invited educational institutions and corporate organisations to collaborate with Avtar in creating stronger pathways for women through skilling, mentoring and employment opportunities.
The career fair featured engaging panel discussions on career resilience, leadership development and redefining professional success at different stages of life. Experts shared practical advice on adapting to changing workplace expectations, developing future ready skills and making informed career decisions.
Participants also benefited from Avtar’s proprietary Career PULSE assessment, which provided personalised career insights and one to one guidance sessions. The event attracted more than 500 registrations, with around 300 women attending and interacting directly with recruiters and career experts.
Several organisations participated in the recruitment and networking sessions, including Psiog Digital, Quantum Data Engines, Sundaram Home Finance Limited, Integrated Enterprises (India) Limited, TVS Electronics, Viia Design Pvt.
