The fourth edition of Haazri will bring an unforgettable moment in Indian music history as A.R. Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan and Shaan come together on one stage for the first time. The concert, held every year in memory of Padma Vibhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, is scheduled for 17 January 2026 at the Jio World Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex. Organised by NR Talent and Event Management, this year’s event marks his fifth barsi and promises a deeply emotional tribute to the legendary guru.
For the first time ever, four of Ustad ji’s most cherished disciples will perform together, with A.R. Rahman curated a special musical set. The idea is not just to perform for the audience but to celebrate the spiritual bond they shared with their teacher. Rahman, who performed a Sufi segment at last year’s Haazri, calls this occasion a meaningful continuation of that journey. “This will be my second consecutive homage to my guru. I’m curating something very special and I look forward to sharing the stage with Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan,” he says.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan was regarded as a towering pillar of Indian classical music and a guiding force of the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana. His influence shaped the musical journeys of many of India’s finest voices, including Asha Bhosle, A.R. Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Shaan and Shilpa Rao. For his students, Haazri is more than a performance; it is remembrance, gratitude and legacy coming alive through music.
Hariharan describes the concert as a yearly emotional milestone. “Khan Sahab humein roz yaad aate hain. This edition is very special. With Rahman curating the set and all of us performing together, it will be filled with energy and emotion. It feels like a true homage,” he shares.
Sonu Nigam speaks of the personal connection he still feels. “Our guru lives inside us forever. He left a family for me through his children and students. Performing at Haazri will be an emotional moment,” he says. Shaan echoes the sentiment, calling the event a privilege. “He was more than a guru; he was a father figure. To stand with my guru bhais and celebrate him is an honour I have been waiting for.”
The concept of bringing the four icons together was shaped by Rabbani Mustafa Khan and Namrata Gupta Khan, founders of NR Talent & Event Management. “Haazri is not just a concert. It is a celebration of our father’s legacy. We wanted to offer something special while keeping the purity of his philosophy intact. What better way than to bring his own students together, with Rahman bhai curating the experience? We look forward to the magic on stage,” they share.
With emotion, legacy and music converging, Haazri 2026 is set to be a historic night that honours a maestro whose influence continues to guide India’s greatest voices.
