Ayodhya is set to host one of its largest ever Ram Navami celebrations on Sunday, 6 April 2025, marking the first major festival since the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol earlier in January 2024.
According to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, devotees will be allowed to have darshan for 18 hours straight, from early morning until midnight. The extended schedule aims to accommodate the lakhs of pilgrims expected to arrive in the holy city.
Security and Facilities Enhanced
In view of the anticipated rush, Ayodhya district administration has stepped up security. Crowd control measures, emergency medical aid, sanitation units, and food distribution counters have been put in place across key locations.
The temple trust has urged devotees to register in advance and follow issued guidelines. Volunteers and police personnel will be deployed throughout the city to ensure safety and order.
Ram Navami 2025: Date, Time, and Significance
Ram Navami falls on the ninth day (Navami Tithi) of Chaitra month in the Hindu calendar. This year, the Navami Tithi begins on the evening of 5 April and ends on the evening of 6 April. The most auspicious time for puja is between 11:08 AM and 1:39 PM on 6 April.
The day commemorates the birth of Lord Ram, believed to be the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Across the country, devotees celebrate his birth with rituals, aartis, bhajans, and reading of the Ramayana.
Temples to Visit on Ram Navami
While Ayodhya remains the central point of celebration, many other temples will also see large-scale festivities:
- Rameswaram Temple (Tamil Nadu) – A key pilgrimage site in the Ramayan trail.
- Ram Mandir, Bhadrachalam (Telangana) – Known for its distinct cultural traditions.
- Kalaram Temple, Nashik (Maharashtra) – Hosts an annual Ram Navami procession.
- Sitamarhi (Bihar) – Believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita.
Ayodhya in Celebration Mode
Ayodhya has been decorated with floral arrangements, lights, and cultural installations. Devotional songs will be played on loudspeakers, and large LED screens will broadcast live visuals from the temple premises.
Multiple stages have been set up across the city for Ramayana recitations and folk performances. Major roads leading to the temple complex have been widened and cleared for easier access.
Ram Navami 2025 Expected to Break Records
With this being the first Ram Navami after the inauguration of the Ram Temple, the celebration is expected to draw record-breaking crowds. Railways and road transport services have announced extra trains and buses to manage the surge in travellers.
The temple trust is also offering live online darshan and virtual puja participation for devotees unable to travel to Ayodhya.
