Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has been recognised as the “Top Exporter 2023-2024” by the Mumbai Port Authority, reinforcing its role as a major player in India’s automotive export sector. This accolade marks the company’s significant contribution to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and highlights its success in expanding India’s footprint in the global car market.

Driving India’s export growth

Since its inception, SAVWIPL has exported over 675,000 vehicles to nearly 70 countries. In 2023, exports grew by 38% year-on-year (YoY), accounting for 30% of total production. The momentum continued in 2024, with exports rising to 40% of locally produced vehicles, marking a 20% YoY increase.

In FY 2023-24, more than 43,000 made-in-India cars were shipped to 26 countries across Asia, Africa, and North America. The export lineup includes iconic models such as the Volkswagen Vento and Polo, alongside new-generation vehicles like the Volkswagen Virtus, Volkswagen Taigun, and Škoda Kushaq.

Expanding market presence

Beyond complete vehicle exports, SAVWIPL has expanded its strategy to include parts and component exports. The company now ships parts to Vietnam from its Parts Expedition Centre in Pune, supporting vehicle assembly in the region. This initiative strengthens India’s role as a global automotive manufacturing hub.
