BOSCON 2026 has brought together some of the country’s leading minds in orthopaedics, offering a glimpse into how technology and evidence-based practice are shaping the future of patient care. The two-day annual conference, organised by the Bangalore Orthopaedic Society in collaboration with HOSMAT Hospitals, is currently underway in Bengaluru.
Held at The Koramangala Club on April 4 and 5, the 29th edition of the conference has attracted orthopaedic surgeons, specialists, and young clinicians from across Karnataka and neighbouring regions. The event serves as a vital platform for academic exchange, skill development, and discussions on emerging trends in orthopaedic care.
The conference was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Shantharam Shetty, Pro Chancellor of NITTE University and former president of the Indian Orthopaedic Association. His presence added significance to the opening ceremony, highlighting the conference’s academic and professional importance.
This year’s theme, “Keeping PACE in Orthopaedics: Evolving with Evidence,” focuses on Practical Academic Case-based Education. The approach encourages clinicians to learn through real-life cases backed by scientific research, ensuring that medical decisions are both effective and evidence-driven.
Throughout the conference, participants have engaged in a wide range of activities. These include subspecialty scientific sessions, detailed case-based discussions on complex surgeries, and panel debates led by experienced experts. The event also features orations honouring pioneers in the field, along with dedicated academic sessions designed for postgraduate students and emerging surgeons.
A major highlight of BOSCON 2026 is its focus on the role of advanced technologies in modern orthopaedics. Experts are discussing how robotics, artificial intelligence, biologics, and minimally invasive surgical techniques are transforming treatment approaches. At the same time, there is a strong emphasis on adopting these innovations responsibly, guided by ethical practices and clinical evidence.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Subodh Shetty, President of the Bangalore Orthopaedic Society, noted that the field is at a crucial turning point. He stressed that while innovation is essential, it must be integrated carefully with patient-centred care and scientific validation.
Dr. Shantharam Shetty also highlighted that orthopaedic practice should balance both art and science, rather than being driven purely by commercial interests. His remarks reinforced the need for ethical responsibility in a rapidly evolving medical landscape.
More than just an academic gathering, BOSCON 2026 reflects a broader commitment to improving healthcare outcomes. As orthopaedics continue to advance, such conferences play a key role in equipping medical professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver better, more effective patient care.
