Gleneagles Hospital, Mumbai, in collaboration with Medtronic India, has announced the establishment of a specialized centre dedicated to advanced management of uncontrolled hypertension through Renal Denervation Therapy (RDN). The partnership aims to address the rising prevalence of high blood pressure and support patients in achieving better long-term cardiovascular outcomes.
Hypertension is a leading contributor to cardiovascular disease and premature mortality worldwide, including in India. A significant challenge faced by physicians is patient awareness, with many individuals unaware of the importance of controlling their blood pressure. This lack of awareness often results in uncontrolled hypertension, which significantly increases the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney disease.

The newly established centre will focus on a comprehensive model of care, combining multidisciplinary clinical teams, patient education, and evidence-based technologies. Key objectives include improving medication adherence, encouraging lifestyle modifications, and offering access to innovative treatments such as Renal Denervation Therapy for eligible patients. Medtronic will support this initiative through ongoing clinician training, medical education, and technical expertise to advance treatment pathways.
By fostering coordinated care and increasing awareness about the risks and management of high blood pressure, the Gleneagles-Medtronic collaboration aims to improve outcomes for patients struggling with difficult-to-control hypertension. Through this initiative, the hospital and Medtronic India hope to set a benchmark for comprehensive, technology-enabled hypertension management in India, ensuring patients receive holistic and effective care.
