The Indian Art History Congress (IAHC) is set to host its 32nd session between 8-10 February 2025 at the Indian Institute of Heritage in Noida. This year’s theme, ‘Rendering of Indian Epics in Art and Culture,’ aims to showcase the diverse artistic expressions inspired by India’s ancient narratives.

The conference will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, with Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament and former Minister of State for Culture, as the Guest of Honour.

The Ramayana and the Mahabharata have profoundly influenced India’s cultural landscape. Over time, these epics have been reinterpreted across various languages and regions, leading to unique artistic representations. Prof. (Dr.) B. R. Mani, Vice Chancellor of the Indian Institute of Heritage, noted that the universal themes of Dharma in these epics have guided diverse populations, resonating across cultures beyond India.

The IAHC, headquartered in Guwahati, was established on 21st April 1992 to provide an academic platform for scholars studying antiquities, sculptures, paintings, and architecture.

This year’s conference has received over 200 abstract submissions, reflecting the enduring relevance of the epics. Topics range from mythology and aesthetics to cultural exchanges and modern reinterpretations. Scholars from disciplines such as art history, archaeology, and ancient Indian history will engage in interdisciplinary dialogues, offering fresh perspectives on these timeless tales.

The Indian Institute of Heritage is proud to collaborate with the IAHC to host this significant event, celebrating the rich tapestry of India’s epic narratives through art and culture.
