Jaslok Hospital has entered a new chapter as Vinod P. Chanrai steps in as Chairman, taking over from long-serving Chairperson Kanta Masand, who now assumes the honorary title of Chairperson Emeritus.
This leadership transition marks a significant milestone for the iconic Mumbai-based healthcare institution, known for its high-quality quaternary care. Over the years, Mrs. Masand led the hospital through impressive expansions, including the setup of Jaslok Annex during the pandemic and a major vaccination initiative that placed the hospital at the forefront of private COVID-19 care in Mumbai. Her compassion-driven approach also extended to social efforts like supporting the Bal Asha orphanage.
Now, with Mr. Chanrai at the helm, Jaslok looks toward a tech-forward, academically driven future. A longtime Trustee, Chanrai played a vital role in upgrading the hospital’s digital infrastructure and steering governance reforms. He is expected to focus on deepening Jaslok’s investment in digital healthcare, AI-powered care delivery, and medical research.
In her parting words as Chairperson, Kanta Masand described Jaslok as a “living institution of care,” promising to remain involved in shaping its strategic direction. Mr. Chanrai, in turn, acknowledged the legacy of his predecessor and expressed his commitment to advancing Jaslok’s mission with innovation, empathy, and excellence.
CEO Jitendra Haryan also praised the transition, calling it pivotal for “Jaslok 2.0” — a phase focused on upgrading infrastructure and championing patient-first innovation. As Jaslok enters this transformative era, leadership continuity and vision-driven change remain at the heart of its journey.
