The gates of India’s most talked-about reality prison are about to open. Ahead of the highly anticipated premiere of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa on June 27, Netflix has officially introduced the first three celebrity contestants who will enter the high-pressure captive reality show.
At a special press conference held in Mumbai, Netflix unveiled actor Ram Kapoor, television star Shivangi Joshi and actress Pamala Serena as the first confirmed inmates of the upcoming season. The event also brought together the creative team behind the show, including creator Ektaa Kapoor, Netflix India Vice President of Content Monika Shergill, and the show’s jailers, Riteish Deshmukh and Farah Khan.
Co-produced by Balaji Telefilms Ltd and Colosceum Media, Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa promises a fresh take on the captive reality genre, combining strategy, survival, emotional confrontations and unexpected revelations. The series will stream exclusively on Netflix from June 27, airing every Saturday to Wednesday at 8 pm.
This season features 14 celebrity contestants who will spend six weeks inside the Lock Upp, competing for survival while navigating alliances, conflicts and personal secrets. Unlike conventional reality shows, contestants will have to earn basic necessities such as food, supplies and privileges through tasks. The in-game currency system ensures that even survival becomes a challenge.
However, the show’s biggest weapon is not competition but truth. Contestants will constantly face situations where secrets and revelations can alter the course of the game. Relationships will be tested, trust will be questioned and every decision could carry serious consequences.
Speaking about bringing the popular format to Netflix, Ektaa Kapoor described the show as much more than a traditional reality series.
“Over the years, I have created many television shows, but Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa occupies a unique space. It removes comforts and distractions, placing contestants in an environment where every action has consequences. There is nowhere to hide when you are completely cut off from the outside world. It is a social experiment filled with entertainment, drama and surprises,” she said.
Netflix India Vice President of Content Monika Shergill highlighted the platform’s excitement about entering the captive reality space.
“Captive reality is fascinating because it explores human behaviour under pressure. It allows viewers to watch how people build relationships, handle conflicts and make choices when the stakes are high. Lock Upp already has a passionate fan base, and we are excited to bring the next chapter of the franchise to Netflix with bigger challenges, deeper gameplay and new surprises,” she said.
Monika also expressed confidence in the show’s hosting duo, Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, who will serve as the jailers overseeing the competition.
According to Netflix, the duo’s contrasting personalities and sharp observations will add a new layer of entertainment to the format. While Farah is known for her candid humour and straightforward opinions, Riteish brings wit and instinctive understanding of people, making them ideal guides through the unpredictable world of Lock Upp.
The reveal of Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi and Pamala Serena as contestants has already generated excitement among fans, with viewers eager to see how the personalities adapt to the intense environment inside the prison-like setup.
With the jailers ready, the contestants preparing to enter and secrets waiting to be exposed, Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa is set to deliver six weeks of drama, strategy, emotional breakdowns and unexpected twists. As the countdown begins, one thing is clear: inside the Lock Upp, every truth comes with a price.
