The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has announced the winners of the National Gopal Ratna Awards 2025, one of the highest honours in the country’s dairy and livestock sector. The awards will be presented on 26 November during the National Milk Day celebrations. The ceremony will be led by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), along with Ministers of State Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel and George Kurian.

In the category recognising the best dairy farmers rearing indigenous cattle and buffalo breeds, the top award in the non-North East region was given to Aravind Yashavant Patil from Kolhapur, Maharashtra. The second prize went to Dr. Kankanala Krishna Reddy from Hyderabad, while the third prize was shared by Harshit Jhuria of Sikar, Rajasthan, and Shraddha Satyawan Dhavan from Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. In the North East and Himalayan region group, the award was jointly presented to Vijay Lata from Himachal Pradesh and Pradeep Pangariya from Uttarakhand.

Awards were also given to outstanding dairy cooperatives, milk producer companies and farmer-producer organisations. Meenan Gadi Ksheerolpadaka Sahakarana Sangham of Wayanad, Kerala won the first prize. Second prizes were awarded to Kunnamkattupathy Ksheerolpadaka Sahakarana Samgham from Palakkad, Kerala, and Ghinoi Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Samiti from Jaipur, Rajasthan. The third prize went to TYSPL 37 Sendurai Milk Producers Cooperative Society in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu. For the North East and Himalayan region, Kulha Dudh Utpadak Sahkari Samiti from Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand was selected.

In the Best Artificial Insemination Technician category, the first prize in the non-NER group was awarded to Dillip Kumar Pradhan of Odisha. Vikas Kumar from Rajasthan received the second prize, while Anuradha Chakali from Andhra Pradesh won the third prize. In the North East and Himalayan category, the award went to Deluwar Hasan from Assam. For this category, the winners will receive a certificate and a memento, without any cash prize.

The National Gopal Ratna Awards were introduced under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission in 2014 to encourage dairy farmers, cooperatives and technicians dedicated to improving indigenous breeds and strengthening India’s dairy sector. Since 2021, these awards have played a key role in promoting excellence and recognising outstanding contributions to the field.
