On 15 November 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Narmada district of Gujarat to mark Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, the national day dedicated to celebrating tribal pride. The key event will take place in Dediapada, where the Prime Minister will join a programme honouring the 150th birth anniversary of the legendary tribal leader Birsa Munda, who is fondly remembered as Dharti Aaba. Before arriving for the main function, he is scheduled to perform a pooja and darshan at the Devmogra Temple in Narmada around 12.45 pm.
Later in the afternoon, around 2.45 pm, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for a wide range of development projects worth more than ₹9,700 crore. These projects focus on improving the lives of tribal communities and strengthening infrastructure in remote and rural regions. The initiatives cover essential sectors such as education, healthcare, connectivity, and cultural heritage, with the aim of promoting inclusive growth.
A major highlight of the visit is the Grih Pravesh ceremony for one lakh homes built under two major tribal welfare schemes, the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JAGUA). These homes are intended to provide safe and stable housing for tribal families living in difficult or far-flung areas. Housing is a key element of long-term social and economic upliftment, and this milestone marks a significant achievement.
Education forms another major pillar of the development push. The Prime Minister will inaugurate 42 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools designed to offer high-quality residential education to tribal children. These schools represent an investment of about ₹1,900 crore and aim to give students from remote regions better opportunities. Additionally, the foundation stones for 50 more Eklavya schools, worth around ₹2,320 crore, will be laid to further expand access to quality education across tribal belts.
The programme also includes the inauguration of 228 Multi Purpose Centres. These centres are expected to serve as vital community hubs supporting learning, skill development, cultural activities, and social gatherings. Two important cultural institutions will also be launched: a Centre of Competence at Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh and a new Tribal Research Institute in Imphal, both designed to preserve and promote tribal heritage.
Improved connectivity is another key focus of the visit. The Prime Minister will flag off 250 buses to operate across 14 tribal districts of Gujarat, helping to improve mobility in remote regions. He will also lay the foundation for 748 kilometres of new roads in tribal areas, aimed at strengthening links between villages and markets. Additionally, 14 Tribal Multi Marketing Centres will be established to support local entrepreneurship and traditional livelihoods.
Through this visit, the government aims to honour Birsa Munda’s legacy while accelerating development in underserved tribal regions. The initiatives announced reflect a broad commitment to long-term empowerment and inclusive growth.
