
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the New Delhi World Book Fair 2025 in New Delhi today. In her address, the President highlighted that reading books is a transformative experience, not merely a hobby. She emphasised that exploring literature from diverse languages and cultures fosters connections between regions and communities. She expressed pleasure in seeing many stalls showcasing books in various Indian and international languages, and expressed confidence that the Book Fair would provide an opportunity for book lovers to access literature from around the world in one place.
The President also urged schoolchildren to read books beyond their prescribed syllabus, encouraging exploration of various subjects to help them discover their potential and grow into well-rounded individuals.

Additionally, she stressed the importance of creating and promoting books for children, stating that nurturing a love for reading in young minds is one of the best habits that can be instilled. She called upon elders to take up this responsibility seriously.
