South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has signed an agreement with the Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust to establish a Health Service Skills Development Centre in Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The project will be implemented under SECL’s corporate social responsibility programme with an investment of ₹35.04 crore.
The centre aims to provide free, job-oriented training to youth from coal-producing regions of Chhattisgarh and neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. It will focus on building skills for healthcare roles such as nursing assistants, health technicians, and other allied health professionals. The initiative is expected to improve employability and support the growing demand for trained healthcare workers.
The campus will include training classrooms, hostels, staff residences, and other necessary infrastructure to support residential learning. Priority admission will be given to candidates from SECL’s operational areas. At least 20 percent of the annual intake will be reserved for local youth for the next 25 years, with scope for expansion based on performance.
The agreement was signed by senior officials from SECL and representatives of the Sri Saty Sai Health and Education Trust. Both organisations have previously collaborated on healthcare initiatives aimed at improving access to quality medical services in coal-bearing regions.
SECL has been actively involved in community development through its CSR initiatives, with significant investments in healthcare, education, skill development, infrastructure, and social welfare across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. One of its key health programmes has already supported life-saving medical interventions for children with critical conditions.
The new skills development centre reflects SECL’s commitment to inclusive growth and long-term community development. By combining skill training with healthcare needs, the project seeks to create sustainable livelihood opportunities while strengthening the region’s healthcare ecosystem.
