The recently concluded Tribal Business Conclave 2025, held at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka, marked a significant milestone for tribal entrepreneurship in India. The three-day event brought together over 250 tribal entrepreneurs from across the country, industry leaders, senior government officials and investors in an effort to celebrate, support and scale up Indigenous enterprise. The conclave was organised jointly by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the Ministry of Culture. It also took place during the Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, which commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Birsa Munda.

The event was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Durgadas Uikey, and attended by the Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, and the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram. Together, the attendees highlighted the government’s commitment to making tribal communities equal partners in India’s growth story.

At the heart of the conclave was the theme ‘Roots to Rise’ .Tribal enterprises, including 150 exhibitors and 100 + start-ups, showcased their innovations in the pitching platform, connecting directly with corporates, government buyers and investors. Among the key outcomes, more than 60 new registrations were made on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and 50 + serious enquiries were recorded for tribal products, expanding market access for Indigenous producers.

Another major highlight was the distribution of Geographical Indication (GI) certificates to a range of tribal crafts and products. These included Kannadippaya from Kerala, Apatani Textile from Arunachal Pradesh, Marthandam Honey from Tamil Nadu, Lepcha Tungbuk from Sikkim, Bodo Aronai from Assam, Ambaji White Marble from Gujarat and Bedu & Badri Cow Ghee from Uttarakhand. These GI recognitions aim to enhance brand value, protect heritage and improve export potential for tribal artisans.

The conclave also introduced transformative initiatives such as the GYAN Lab and the Tribal Affairs Grand Challenge  designed to feature innovation, research and industrial link-ups for tribal enterprises. Together, these initiatives reflect a broader vision: converting heritage into enterprise, skills into industry, and communities into catalysts for shared prosperity.

In all, the Tribal Business Conclave 2025 serves as a landmark moment in India’s journey towards ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’. By placing tribal creativity and entrepreneurship at the centre of national development, the stage is set for Indigenous enterprises to shape this future.
