
Wankhede Stadium, one of Indian cricket’s most iconic venues, celebrated its 50th anniversary with a grand event on 19 January 2025. Organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association and sponsored by Sugee Group, the event brought together cricketing legends, fans, and memories of historic moments.

The evening was full of emotion and nostalgia, hosted by Mandira Bedi, Prasanna Sant, and Jatin Sapru. Spectators enjoyed stunning performances by Avadhoot Gupte and Ajay-Atul, and a spectacular laser show added to the celebrations.

Built in 1974, Wankhede Stadium has been home to countless iconic cricketing moments. The celebration brought together legendary players such as Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Ravi Shastri, Ajinkya Rahane, Diana Edulji, and Shreyas Iyer. Young stars like Yashasvi Jaiswal also attended, symbolising the future of Indian cricket.
Cricket legends, captains, groundsmen, and support staff shared their stories about Wankhede’s role in shaping Indian cricket. The event highlighted Mumbai’s cricketing legacy and its consistent contribution to the sport.
