As the world prepares to observe World Sleep Day on March 13, 2026, Westin Hotels & Resorts is placing renewed focus on rest and wellness across its properties in the Asia Pacific region. The brand, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, is reinforcing its long-standing philosophy that quality sleep plays a vital role in health, travel recovery, and overall well-being.

For more than a decade, Westin has built its hospitality experience around three core pillars of wellness: Sleep Well, Eat Well, and Move Well. At the centre of the brand’s sleep philosophy is the well-known Heavenly® Bed, designed with customised mattresses, plush pillows, and premium linens. Guests are also offered sleep-supportive touches such as the Sleep Well Lavender Balm, which contains calming essential oils, and the Sleep Well Menu, featuring carefully curated in-room dishes designed to promote better rest.

Cristiano Rinaldi, Chief Lodging Product and Services Officer for Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International, emphasised that sleep is not treated as a simple overnight experience at Westin. Instead, the brand sees it as a long-term commitment to helping travellers recover from the stresses of modern travel.

World Sleep Day Experiences Across the Region

To celebrate World Sleep Day, Westin hotels across Asia Pacific are hosting a range of wellness-focused programmes.

At The Westin Manila, a three-day Wellness Weekend from March 13 to 15 will include breathwork sessions, meditation, sound baths, and sleep education talks led by sleep medicine specialists. Guests can also experience tea ceremonies, guided yoga sessions, and community wellness activities.

In Australia, The Westin Brisbane will host The Sleep Reset, a programme combining discussions on sleep science with Yin Yoga and guided relaxation sessions. Meanwhile, The Westin Melbourne will feature an interactive Heavenly Bed installation for guests.

Hotels across Southeast Asia are also introducing unique sleep-focused experiences. The Westin Singapore will offer immersive breathwork sessions paired with sound therapy, while The Westin Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok is organising evening wind-down flow sessions that combine gentle stretching and breathwork.

In Malaysia, The Westin Kuala Lumpur will present meditation sessions alongside sleep-supportive dining experiences, while The Westin Desaru Coast Resort will host guided meditation and beachfront bonfire activations designed to encourage relaxation.

Local Rituals for Restful Travel

Beyond the global observance of World Sleep Day, many Westin properties are incorporating sleep rituals inspired by local culture and natural surroundings.

For example, The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat offers a Bengal-inspired tea turndown ritual featuring chamomile and tulsi, accompanied by calming Rabindra Sangeet instrumental music. At The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake, guests receive chamomile tea, lavender balm, and a specially curated sleep playlist inspired by natural sounds such as rainfall and sea waves.

Across island destinations such as the Maldives and Bali, Westin resorts are also introducing meditation sessions, herbal tea rituals, and sound healing therapies designed to help guests achieve deeper rest.

A Growing Focus on Sleep Tourism

As wellness tourism continues to expand globally, Westin Hotels & Resorts is positioning sleep as a central element of the travel experience. By combining sleep-focused amenities with nutritious dining and fitness programmes, the brand aims to help travellers restore energy, maintain healthy routines, and enjoy more meaningful journeys.
