Mumbai Indians Women (MIW) and Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) will clash in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 final. The match will be held at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, on Saturday, March 16.
This final is a repeat of the inaugural WPL 2023 final, where Mumbai emerged victorious. DCW, led by Meg Lanning, have reached their third consecutive final but are yet to win a title. Mumbai, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, will be eyeing their second WPL championship.
Path to the Final
Delhi Capitals topped the points table and secured a direct entry into the final based on a superior net run rate. Mumbai Indians booked their place after defeating Gujarat Giants by 47 runs in the Eliminator.
Key Players & Team Strengths
Mumbai Indians’ strength lies in their all-rounders. Nat Sciver-Brunt has been a standout performer, scoring 493 runs and taking 9 wickets. Hayley Matthews has been equally valuable, leading the bowling charts with 17 wickets while scoring 304 runs.
Delhi Capitals will depend on their bowling attack. Jess Jonassen and Shikha Pandey have taken 11 wickets each, making them crucial for DCW’s title hopes.
In their last league-stage clash, DCW restricted MIW to 123/9, with Jonassen and Pandey claiming four wickets between them. DCW chased the target comfortably, winning by nine wickets.
Final Showdown: Strategies & Mindset
Lanning and Shafali Verma will look to dominate early. “A strong start is key,” Lanning said. She dismissed concerns about the venue, stating, “We’ve been training here and are ready for the challenge.”
Harmanpreet Kaur believes Mumbai’s familiarity with Brabourne’s conditions could be an advantage. With Sciver-Brunt and Matthews in top form, MIW are considered favourites.
With DCW chasing their first title and MIW aiming for a second, the WPL 2025 final promises an exciting contest.
