The Indian National Congress has formed an eight-member committee, named the Empowered Action Group of Leaders and Experts (EAGLE), to oversee the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) conduct in ensuring free and fair elections. The panel includes senior Congress leaders such as Ajay Maken, Digvijaya Singh, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Pawan Khera, Praveen Chakravarty, Gurdeep Singh Sappal, Nitin Raut, and Challa Vamshi Chand Reddy. The committee aims to ensure transparency and address concerns over electoral malpractices.
Civil society groups have welcomed the move, calling it a step towards strengthening democratic processes. The Congress has emphasised that the committee will work independently to uphold the integrity of elections and ensure a level playing field for all parties.

The formation of the EAGLE panel comes amid heightened political activity as several states prepare for assembly elections. The Congress has stated that the committee will closely monitor the Election Commission’s actions and intervene if necessary to safeguard democratic principles.
This initiative reflects the party’s broader strategy to address concerns over electoral fairness and bolster its presence in the upcoming polls.
