Hungama OTT has unveiled its latest crime drama Zung, a gripping thriller that premiered on 18 March 2026. Set in the stark and rugged backdrop of the Alang Ship Breaking Yard, the series brings a dark and layered narrative of betrayal, survival and hidden truths.
At the centre of the story is Kaveri, played by Pavitra Punia. She is a lonely housewife trapped in a loveless marriage with her quiet husband Bakul. Seeking emotional escape, she begins a secret relationship with a scrapyard worker. However, what starts as a moment of connection soon spirals into blackmail and danger. Kaveri finds herself pulled into a web of crime, manipulation and murder.
As the tension builds, the investigation is led by Inspector Sarthak, portrayed by Zohaib Ashraf. His connection with Kaveri adds emotional complexity to the case. With each revelation, the story takes darker turns. The biggest shock comes when it is revealed that Bakul, played by Aabhaas Mehta, is not as ordinary as he seems. Behind his calm exterior lies a powerful drug empire, with Kaveri unknowingly used as a pawn to eliminate his enemies.
As loyalties begin to crumble, Kaveri is forced to confront the harsh truth of her situation. Pushed to her limits, she makes a bold choice that leads to a final confrontation in the shipyard. Here, survival comes at a heavy price.
Sharing her experience, Pavitra Punia said, “Kaveri is an incredibly layered character who goes through a very intense emotional journey. At first, she appears vulnerable and trapped in circumstances beyond her control, but as the story unfolds, her resilience begins to shape. What drew me to this role was how the narrative explores a woman’s fight for freedom and survival in a world filled with betrayal, manipulation and danger.”
Zohaib Ashraf added, “Zung is a gripping crime thriller that keeps audiences guessing at every turn. Playing a police officer in a story filled with secrets, betrayal and unexpected twists made it both challenging and exciting. What makes the show particularly compelling is how the investigation gradually unravels a much deeper and darker truth keeps raising the stakes.”
Blending suspense with emotional depth, Zung stands out as a compelling crime drama that explores power, deception and resilience against a striking and intense setting.
