MoU to drive innovation in Indian languages, HealthTech, and Gen AI

Samsung R&D Institute, Noida has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras. This partnership will drive research and development in Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a special focus on Indian languages, HealthTech, and Generative AI.

  • Consultancy work
  • Technology licensing
  • Infrastructure development
  • Student fellowships
  • Training programs

Samsung aims to strengthen its innovation ecosystem through this academic collaboration. It also aligns with national initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India.’

Why It Matters

The collaboration looks to solve real-world challenges. It will also foster innovation in regional language integration for AI tools and systems. Samsung and IIT Madras plan to co-develop tech solutions that are accessible and locally relevant.

Voices from Both Ends

Samsung’s Noida R&D Managing Director Kyungyun Roo said the partnership will help co-create inclusive and meaningful technology. The goal is to enhance Galaxy AI’s capabilities and break regional language barriers.

IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti added that this partnership will support practical use of AI in uncertain times. It’s also expected to upskill students and professionals through real-world applications.

More Than Just One MoU

This isn’t Samsung’s first academic partnership. SRI-Noida already has long-term deals with IITs in Delhi, Kanpur, Bombay, and Ropar. With these alliances, Samsung is building a strong network to drive AI-based innovation in India.

The R&D work will take place either at IIT Madras, Samsung’s facilities, or both. Together, they aim to accelerate the next wave of Indian innovation in AI and digital health.
